Technical translation is engineering discipline applied to language: the risk isn't clumsy phrasing, it's a part number, tolerance value or safety instruction rendered inconsistently across a 40-page manual. We hold one glossary per project and run a dedicated consistency check across the whole set before delivery — not a one-off spot check on page one. Documents are shared only with the people working on your job.
Terminology/glossary control across a document set
The real cost of a bad technical translation rarely shows up in the sentence it's in — it shows up three manuals later, when the same part is called two different things and a technician on the factory floor can't tell if the instruction still applies. Technical translation lives or dies on consistency across volume, not eloquence within a single page.
Our approach is deliberately unglamorous: before translation starts on a document set, we build (or extend, if you supply an existing one) a term list specific to your product line — part names, unit conventions, abbreviations, brand-specific terminology — and every translator and reviewer on the project works against that same list. When a new document arrives for the same client later, the glossary already exists, so terminology doesn't drift between orders placed months apart. This is a process commitment we can describe and be checked against — not a "we're linguists who also do technical work" claim with nothing behind it.
